Julie in the house…

Hi Everyone!

I’m Julie, and Welcome to my No Blog. For those of you that are not aware, please allow me to catch you up to speed.

I fumbled upon the blogging world quite by accident. I started a new job, and took over the email of my predecessor. She got a daily email from “Mamapedia”. Not knowing if this was something to do with the business, I read them, because I am a good employee. I soon discovered there were some interesting stories. Some were funny, some serious, some sad, but for the most part, pretty good writing. Each post came with a link to the blog it was from. It didn’t take long before I wanted to comment; only I had to sign into something to comment…unless I went directly to the blog! (I also found I was less likely to get into it with someone who left a comment like their head was up their….never mind)

It took me a long time to figure out the etiquette and a long time to make a comment. Truth be told, I am still uncertain, however if I don’t have anything nice to say, I won’t say anything at all. At the beginning, I thought the comments were between the author and the individual commenter. I shied away from tossing my two cents in where it might not be well received, (Who was talking to you?!) as well as using great caution in speaking to the author.

Next I discovered that there are many “links” to other blogs! Oh My! A Whole New World! I found some very, very brilliant, quick-witted, funny, and wonderful people and I WAS EXCITED!! People who get me! People who I get! I remember relaying this information to my daughter, who said “you know mom, you can start your own blog if you wanted” What? No. No I can’t. Who would want to read anything I wrote? What would I write about? “Yes mom. Yes you could. I could help if you wanted/needed it” Well, ok. Lemme think about it.

Anyway, I continued on like an eager child! There are so many blogs! Then you see a comment that tickles you, and suddenly, you’re off to another blog! I fumbled upon one near the beginning and have kept up with her ever since. I found one that was so funny I felt like I had found my man version of me! I found one written by a cop, so heartfelt, so funny and at times, so sad. I found one that makes list’s, one that talks a lot about art, and culture, one that’s a little racy, one that speaks of how depression lies but that same blog also makes me laugh out loud! That author gets a lot of traffic, and lots and lots of comments, but she actually responded to one of my comments once! (Here’s my problem with naming the individual blogs. I think blog etiquette would be to link to each of them, however, in my never-ending quest for harmony, and no hurt feelings, I am afraid I will miss one, and risk hurting someone who I dearly enjoy reading) It’s also funny to me when I find the author of a blog I read commenting on another blog I read. I have to keep myself from saying “hi” to them when I see ‘em.

I feel that I have made some very real friends. I have even exchanged email with a handful. I have not “followed” many blogs at all, but I do visit them, sometimes multiple times a day, now that I think about it, the list is a little bit long, but I imagine I hardly scratch the surface of the amount that are out there. The ones I enjoy I can’t seem to stay away from. I check back to see if my comment has been read and if anyone has responded to me.

It wasn’t long before I would get comment’s back asking where I write. Um. I don’t have a blog. I am more of a professional commenter. I enjoy reading, and I enjoy the banter that comes in the comment section. I was soon being pestered to write something. One such individual was like a dog with a bone. I finally wrote a post for him. Then, he sat on it. I began to think he didn’t like it, and decided not to sully his blog with my drivel. Months went by. I had even put it out of my mind. Then, he posts it. It took me 2 or 3 days to even go by to take a look! I had forgotten much of what I wrote, and was nervous how it would be received. People were so very nice! (I should probably link that here too right?)

Anyway, somehow I became affectionately known as “Julie No Blog” and began being pelted with “when are you gonna start a blog” type questions. I then discovered we had a “No Blog” tribe, or a family of sorts. Not really misfits of the blogging community, but no place to call our own I guess, even though I feel right at home at all the blogs I visit with regularity.

It was in the comment section of one of those blogs that this blog was born, and it was the funniest thing I could imagine! Someone started a blog for me! Someone else stepped up and built on the foundation! One of my No Blog brothers has graced the space with his stories! Now Look! It looks like a real blog! (I should probably be naming all “the someone’s” too right?)

Anyway, that is the long-winded nutshell of how this came to be. I know I can do this. Sometimes it just seems I have nothing to say, (as this little piece clearly indicates!)

I hope you enjoy what you read here, and please, feel free to contribute. One of my blogging buddies thought it would be great if I started a blog where others could rant anonymously. Here it is! (see? I didn’t even say their name, so they can remain anonymous)

Thanks for stopping by!

To be more exact, how does “Julie No Blog” have a blog??

Yes, I love questions. We have changed the concept of “nosy” to “naturally curious” at my house, as my daughter has the same affliction!

Gibber is really running the show right now. She very kindly took the reins to a gag gift another blogger gave me. Now that it is real, I may as well try my hand at it eh?

Welcome to the blogging world, Julie! Or wait, this isn’t really a blog. What the heck is this? Maybe it’s kind of like a homeless shelter for homeless people. Well, at least you have a blog over your head. Or something like that. I like your writing, so keep up the no-blogging blogging.

Julie – you have found a home! Welcome to the blogosphere in a non-commentor capacity. I admit that I’m just a wee bit envious that someone other than me thought of the No-Blog-Blog concept, and then went ahead and created it.

I’m looking forward to reading much more of your writing.

(Your daughter was right, you know, just like mine was a couple of years back. Sometimes bloggers just need that little tiny extra push.)

Baby steps, Julie. Your next post now has to be one that you post yourself. After that, we’ll put in pictures. Then, we’ll put in links to stuff. Once that’s accomplished, then we’ll start parking subliminal messages in them like Gibber.

    Step 7: WORLD DOMINATION. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!111!!!one!!!!eleven!!!11!!

And just in case it will take you a few months before your next post, may I get a link to that male Julie substitute you’ve mentioned? 🙂

JULIE Noblog, wait sortablog, wait almost blogger. Whew you are changing fast Mi’ Lady. Congratulations! I’ve been keeping your NoBlog warm for you. i fell much better now that you have posted – not so much like I’ve been hijacking your blog.

Your post is AMAZING! Your tone and word usage and everything is right on – it communicates who you are elegantly and with a warm “Come on into my Life for a visit.” tone. You are amazingly good at this Julie (I’ve written in many, many other forums before, like business applications – just not blogging). I’ll give you a hint about stories – pay attention to what goes on around you. Like if you go to the supermarket and you find two people arguing over the bananas. Or if a squirrel keeps following you down the street. Day to day stuff that describes what goes on around you can all be great blog fodder. Or someone who is in your life that does something funny. Special people like children or a lover are all great blog fodder. You’ll do well Julie. Congratulations. (PS, I used to think you were a bit over enthusiastic when youdescribed my writing in such glowing terms – but I see why now, I feel the same about your writing, it seems to go right to the point that says “here i am, a fellow traveler on the same journey as you are – welcome” )

Julie, this is really great. I never read a blog before (I didn’t even know what a blog was) until a couple of months ago I found out one of my friends had one. Geez I was hooked! His blog has led me to so many others: lots of laughter, tears… now I feel like I have several new friends, even though they don’t know me. I was wondering how they set these things up. I’m so glad you had your daughter’s help! Thankyou for sharing yourself and giving those of us NoBloggers a place to go! I still don’t know about blogging etiquette (have I screwed up yet?) I just thought it was OK to comment to someone whose words have touched me. Glad you’re out there in SortaBloggerLand. Welcome!

Thanks Gibber. OK. See? I already screwed up the etiquette of visitors in BloggerLand. I didn’t even know whose blog I was writing in. How stupid. Ah well. Live and learn. I’ve gotta’ ask this…I live in the Land of No Freeways and No Traffic. I’ve traveled about 400 miles away from home in the last couple of days. Today I took a wrong turn onto a freeway I didn’t want to be on and got stuck in a 45 minute traffic jam due to a crash. There were no exits off the freeway, but lots of onramps onto it, so more vehicles added to the jam. We crept along at 2 to 5 mph for the 45 minutes (in 90 degree heat I might add). Now, my question…have you ever felt like if you just thought hard enough, you could levitate your vehicle and fly just above the tops of the cars? I was so frustrated at being in this jam today because I took the wrong turn, that thinking about levitating strangely lightened my mood. I guess if everyone could levitate, we would’ve had that same jam in the sky :-/ Just a thought…

You didn’t screw up at all. This is Julie’s blog but it’s also sort of anyone’s . I just help run it ha! So are you asking this question for Gibber Jabberin or just in general? Sorry you got caught in such a terrible jam!

It’s a just-in-general question. Probably many of us wish we could have tacked on a pair of wings, superman capes, or switched on the levitating devices to get out of bad or uncomfortable situations. It struck me as sort of funny and relaxing at the same time, during a stressful dituation

Me? (looking around with confusion) send something in? And who pray tell are the Gibberettes? Send what in?
I managed to get my wits about me by the time I made the long windy drive, and arrived home late Sunday evening from this long journey. I took a walk down to the pond and just stood there, soaking in the sounds of frogs croaking, wild ducks quacking and a few horses nickering. Didn’t need the levitation device after all. I’ve found that if I just wait it out long enough, I find what I need in my own back yard. Dorothy? Dorothy!! Do you see that rainbow over there?
I guess I’d better figure out this blog posting stuff before I do anything REAL stupid…oh…wait…is it too late for that? How do you know who you’re responding to? When I hit “reply” at the bottom of that post? Help me! I’m just learning the baby steps here.

Ahaha! The Gibberites are the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarcrow. 😉 Nothing around here is stupid. We’re all just a little crazy and like to blow a question way out of proportion with our answers. We just like to laugh. If you ever want to send in a question you can email me or go to my contact page and send it through there. My email is also on my contact page. 🙂

Trent you are only permitted to drink before 8 am if you have been drinking all night and are, in fact still drinking as opposed to starting drinking. The exception to this is if the drinking is for purposes of curing hangover – hair of the dog, as they say. 😀

Paul – I never let a little thing like time get in the way of excessively chugging on a bottle of rye. Plus – I’m on vacation! Let the glorious rye flow like a river in which I float, mostly dressed and singing at the top of my lungs! Plus, you know, I’m not sure Julie NoBlog actually is the blogger named Julie NoBlog, as this generally spins my head around in circles – but I’m just glad to see her (as I am you – I commented on your post! Yes, the inimitable Trent Lewin has actually vacated his spot upon the on-high boulder near the sky, to express her fertile and mostly debauched opinions once again!). Well, I’m going back to my coffee. You know, if you drink enough caffeine, you can actually become drunk. This is a true story. I intend to test this hypothesis during my vacation, and possibly I may even spit out a few words on the laptop, which promises to be either a spectacular disaster or simply a more conventional disaster. I am nothing if not consistent!

        Also – Julie Julie Julie!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to blogoshere, Julie! I just followed you so I hope you will at least come and see what I am all about. Let’s see how I got here. Oh yes, Cordilasmom sent me. LOL I saw a post on her blog and it got my interest so here I am. I really look forward in reading your work. I have SO many blogs to visit (you really don’t want to know how many) but there are some I really try to read through instead of the speed read. I really enjoy your style of writing so it is beginning to look like I will be reading more from you. Now please write, and do us all a favor so we can enjoy you! (((HUGS))) Amy ❤

This blog was made for “Julie NoBlog” as a joke from another blogger. And another “NoBlogger” (Paul) has been blogging on it. So now Julie “Noblog” is now Julie “Sortof” blog and it’s become a place for anyone.

NOW I get where the confusion lies. I thought when you said YOU TELL HER that you meant to tell Julie what I said here. What you meant by saying what you did, JULIE WRITE! I’ve been scratching my head and just had to come back to the scene of the crime to sort things out. Poor Corneliasmom is now all confused because of my misunderstanding. *sighs* Now I have to go fix things with her. *running back to my blog to tell CM*

We’re as confused as you ha! It’s all started from a joke that became a real blog. So the person who first set it up is different than the person who sort of fell into over seeing it (me) and it’s different than who blogs on it which is anyone who wants too. Lol! So it’s sort of Julie “NoBlog’s” but not really. Thank you so much!
